Prior to the Civic Consulting Alliance, Julia's work addressed social determinants of health and disparities. Most recently, she was the Public Health Policy Manager at the Cook County Sheriff's Office where her projects included initiatives on gender-based violence prevention, social service response models, and firearm policy. Previously, Julia conducted her master's practicum with Congresswoman, then City Councillor, Ayanna Pressley to develop and disseminate a toolkit of equitable school discipline policies, with a particular focus on girls of color. Before graduate school, Julia was the study coordinator at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research for an experiment to measure the relationship between racism and health outcomes. She served as a CityYear AmeriCorps member at a high school on Chicago's west side.
Julia earned her bachelor's degree from Loyola University of Chicago and her master's degree from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She (mostly) enjoys year-round bike commuting and is an avid runner, enthusiastic reader, and amateur fermenter.
