"I really liked being the broker between the skills and assets and talents of the private sector and where you see the needs in local government. Seeing the significant impact that can make in the lives of Chicago residents is really exciting."
"I had spent an entire career in the public sector, and my experience working at Civic Consulting working with really great companies taught me that you can do good things for the city in the private sector as well."
"My ‘aha’ moment? I had worked for the city for a decade. I knew how city government worked, knew the city budget pretty well, and the first project I was given was to go through the county budget line by line to address a significant deficit. I saw many, many similarities with the city budget. It became instantly clear to me what the next project should be. City-county collaboration to save money. There was such a huge upside."

"We are focused on professional development – both formally with trainings as well as on a more informal level. For example, I’ve been coached on how to be a better nonprofit board member by my colleagues, encouraged to attend conferences, and also given the opportunity to take public speaking lessons. You feel really well supported. If you map out your goals, Civic Consulting will help you get there."
"My ‘aha’ moment came after only working at Civic Consulting for six months. In 2013 Civic Consulting, Strategic Talent Solutions and Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS) launched the first CCHHS University Leadership Development Program. Our goal was to develop and implement a training program to support and promote the success of patient care leaders at CCHHS. Over the course of three months, participants shared best practices and learned a variety of techniques that helped them build strong relationships, manage conflicts, and solve problems. During the graduation of the first cohort of this program, I watched participants take to the stage and heard them talk about their personal and professional growth. It is incredibly rewarding to hear from the people that are affected by the work that you’re doing. You’re making a difference in their lives."
"At Civic Consulting we have the ability to step back and see the broader picture of our work. We’re able to be ten steps ahead of the problem and help our clients do the same. Joining Civic Consulting has stretched me to think more strategically and given me opportunities to focus on prioritizing issues and problem solving instead of ‘putting out fires.’"
