What project work were you involved in during your time at the Civic Consulting Alliance?

During my three months at Civic Consulting Alliance, I worked on the City finances workstream of the Mayoral Transition Acceleration project. I helped build financial models that projected the budgets of the City of Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority, and Chicago Public Schools. I also did financial analyses and formulated recommendations that will inform the new Mayor’s transition planning.

What will you take away from your time at Civic Consulting?

It’s been rewarding to work on a project that helps identify and address the financial challenges facing Chicago. Additionally, your bright, driven, and dedicated staff made my time memorable. I look forward to staying in touch and keeping up to date on everyone’s impactful work.

What was your most memorable experience during your time at Civic Consulting?

At one point, I was able to discuss municipal finances with a former Deputy Mayor of Chicago. His insights into how Chicago finances work was fascinating and eye-opening. Being able to hear about his experiences working in City government provided valuable context to Chicago’s financial situation.

How has your time at Civic Consulting helped you develop professionally?

Serving as a Civic Consulting Alliance fellow helped me develop a new set of skills and a deeper appreciation for the complexity and value of public sector work. I plan to put this newfound experience to use when working with private sector CIBC clients.
